Summary:

Are you an experienced graphic designer with 5+ years of experience, passionate about human-centered design and creating memorable brand experiences? Can you manage multiple projects and ensure smooth, efficient workflows? If so, we’re looking for you to join our Branding Department at the Children’s Museum Houston !

As a Human-Centered Graphic Designer , you'll work closely with our creative and marketing teams to design a variety of materials—from digital content to signage, print, and branding materials—all while ensuring that your designs put the user experience at the center of everything you create. You'll also manage design projects from start to finish, using project tracking tools to stay organized and ensure timely delivery of high-quality work.

Our Branding Department is looking for a talented Human-Centered Graphic Designer who will bring our vision to life through thoughtful, user-centered designs. We believe that design is about more than just aesthetics – it’s about solving problems and creating meaningful, impactful experiences that connect with people. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create visually engaging, innovative, and high-quality designs for both digital and print materials, ensuring alignment with the Children’s Museum Houston 's mission and brand identity.
  • Apply human-centered design principles and design thinking methodology to produce designs that solve real problems and deliver meaningful, user-friendly solutions.
  • Work closely with the marketing, events, and education teams to ensure consistency in the design of Museum exhibits, promotional materials, online presence, and other branded assets.
  • Manage and track the progress of design projects from concept to delivery, ensuring smooth coordination and efficient project flow.
  • Oversee traffic management in the design process, ensuring all assets are produced on time, within budget, and to specification.
  • Communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams to track project milestones, resolve design challenges, and ensure alignment with project goals and deadlines.
  • Implement feedback from internal stakeholders and external audiences to refine and improve designs over time.
  • Present design concepts and ideas effectively to team members and stakeholders, ensuring the final designs meet user needs and organizational goals.

Skills and Qualifications Required:

  • Minimum 2 years of proven experience as a Graphic Designer, with a strong portfolio demonstrating a variety of design work.
  • Experience applying human-centered design principles and the design thinking process to solve problems and meet user needs.
  • Significant experience with project tracking, design management, and ensuring smooth workflows within design teams.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Figma, Sketch, or similar design tools.
  • Experience with project management software (Asana, Trello, Monday.com, etc.) to track project progress and ensure timely delivery.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with different teams to ensure cohesive design outcomes.
  • Ability to provide examples of applying the design thinking process and human-centered design in past projects.
  • Bonus: Experience with UX/UI design or familiarity with front-end development principles.
