Core Functions:
Serve in a collaborative role for the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence (CTLE), working closely with other key stakeholders to continuously enhance its impact on promoting best teaching and learning practices. This includes, but is not limited to, contributing expertise in the following areas:
Design and management of teaching and learning content, e.g., instructional materials, videos, and related instructional technology information for faculty.
Participate in Faculty Development initiatives, including but not limited to:
Presenting at webinars, workshops, and seminars.
Managing the Faculty Newsletter periodical.
Serve as Chair/Co-Chair of the RMU Faculty Development and Teaching Effectiveness committees.
Maintain membership in Quality Matters.
To drive faculty development initiatives and assist in analyzing teaching effectiveness data (online course design reviews, onsite classroom observations, instructor/course evaluations, etc.).
Facilitate new faculty training and instruction via the New Faculty Online Orientation, mentoring, and support.
Collaborate with IT and/or the Educational Technology team on choice, launch, and support of educational technology tools and initiatives.
Develop new resources to support faculty in all aspects of teaching and learning.
Consult with faculty on individual development of teaching techniques, development of course materials, and other course design elements as requested
Background/Expertise:
- A bachelor's degree in education, educational technology, instructional design, or a related field is required. Master's degree is preferred.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in promoting effective technology use and leading successful initiatives related to technology-enhanced learning, teaching, and/or assessment is required.
- Previous experience with learning management systems is required. Experience with Canvas is preferred.
- Knowledge of best practices in facilitating and supporting higher education faculty in graduate-level teaching is required.
- Experience consulting with instructors across various disciplines and teaching contexts, particularly in higher education, is preferred.
- Experience in utilizing teaching effectiveness data to inform faculty development efforts is beneficial.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and prior experience managing databases at an institutional level are required.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with various stakeholders in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment are essential.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interpret and share data-driven insights to influence stakeholders at all levels, are crucial.
- Expertise in technical project management and designing learning technologies and ecosystems according to best practices is expected.
- Advanced computer and technology skills, with the ability to quickly master new technologies, are essential.
- The ability to inspire action and excellence in others is essential.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills, a strong desire for continuous learning, and an organized, efficient, and reliable work ethic are required.
